FLOODS

On Monday we had a heavy downpour which led to the bursting of the banks of the already full river Tonj. This has led to floods flowing inwards more than 5Km. This has led to displacement of hundreds of families. many houses have collapsed. The fields were ripe with crops and there is already fear hat the crops will rot in the gardens. people are in danger of contacting water borne diseases when we are already dealing with Malaria epidemic. many families are camping beside the road since that is the only place where there is no water. Please pray for them.

PRAISE TO GOD FOR THE HARVEST

Praise be to God that He brought me safely back to south Sudan after my short vacation in Kenya. Came back to Tonj through Uganda together with Billy Coppedge as well pastor Daniel and his wife.

It is wonderful to see what the Lord is doing among the people of South Sudan. With the STS and CHE workshops running back to back, it was a busy season but all the same it was a great blessing. Both of the training were very lively and we pray and hope that many lives will be changed for the glory of God. Worth noting is the team that came from Poghol, which consisted of trainees that we had trained during our visit to the region back in April. It was wonderful to hear the stories of what the Lord has done to and through them. The church in the region have grown significantly. Pastor Jacob Deng says that there are more than two hundred(200) converts in the last three months. They have been able to open three churches in the region. That is a great testimony. One of His greatest challenge is how to disciple the new believers. He only have two pastors that he feels are well able to help to disciple the church. This has made him to stop carrying on his business that he had been doing to support his family. He has to concentrate in building the new believers and to ensure that new disciples are well equipped to train others. The church has also been very supportive to His work. He says that he is trying to get other people to help and we pray with him that the righteous Lord will lead his path and will grant Him wisdom.
Mathew 9:37-38, “Then Jesus said to his disciples, The harvest truly  is plentiful, but the labourers are few; Pray therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest”.

During the CHE(community Health Evangelism) training we had a woman named Mary. She is from Malony where Pastor Santino is helping with the church. Mary had been involved in drunkardness, witchcraft and idolatry. She came to the church and heard the gospel. She asked Pastor Santino to go to her home and pray with her of which he did together with other brethrens. After that she has been faithful in attending the church. She was one of those who attended the one week training of CHE(Community Health Evangelism) workshop. She told Pastor Santino that she will not go back to Malony until she is baptized. So after the training she remained here and on the Sunday after service she was baptized in Tonj river by Pastor's Sebit and John. Glory be to God for this soul that have come to His kingdom.

1Chronicles 5:13c;... The Lord is good , His love endures forever

Being home at last has been a blessing, after having served in S. Sudan for 4 and 1/2 months with indeed and truth ministry www.indeedand truth.org. I finally am enjoying the cold season in Kenya (not as cold as i anticipated), the warmth of being with my home Church Calvary chapel Nairobi www.ccnairobi.org, where i was officially ordained as a pastor.

The joy of being with friends and family is all mine. I have enjoyed working with the Fikia group in their events with kids from different schools as well as teaching in the schools Pastoral progarammes.

It has really been a blessing to have the Lord use me in such ways and show me great favour during my period of rest.

Isaiah 52:7, “How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of those who bring the good tidings, who preach peace,  Those who preach salvation”
She is 15 years, born in a polygamous family. She comes from Robobi which is inhabited by the Luo tribe of South Sudan. She could not attend school as this is not a priority in the community and she has to help her parents. Despite the fact that she is unschooled, she is a tool that God is using to reach the community with the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Every day she shares the gospel with the women who come to the well that is located near her home. She helps to preach in the church which is a bit difficult because of her age, and the fact that she is a girl. The church has no committed male believers and so we have tried to get a pastor from the neighboring village who is helping in pastoring the church.  She is planning to have a weekly evangelism visit in the homes every Wednesday.

Her prayer is that from her own community will arise men who will take heed to the gospel and help in teaching and discipling the church. She is also hoping to introduce the CHE programme in to her community together with other young men who attended the CHE training “TOT 1” here at Tonj one week ago. Pray that God will use her mightily to change her community and to draw many to himself.
